The Puppet Slam

The Puppet Slam Network defines a Puppet Slam as, “the nexus of vaudeville, burlesque, and performance art through the intersection of experimental theater, art, music, and dance as a viable alternative to the culturally homogenous digital mass media.”

The experimental nature of puppet slams not only allows experienced puppeteers to try new things, it also opens up the art of puppetry to artists with no prior experience in the medium.  Lyon Hill and Kimi Maeda–the Puppet Slam’s organizers–invite musicians, actors, and visual artists to collaborate.
